Small Crew Competes at GBS Meet

HP had a small crew of athletes competing at a meet hosted by Glenbrook South. 

 

Field Event Highlights:

 

In the throws, junior Colin Chase had season best marks in both the shot put (36’4.5”) and the discus (95’10.5”). Junior Caden Hellrung also threw over 30 in the shot put (33’9”) and over 90 in the discus (94’2”). That was a personal best for Hellrung in the discus.

 

Freshman Austin Colegio got over 30 feet for the first time going 30’2.25”.

 

Junior DJ Robinson led the way in the long jump with an 18’8.75” mark.

 

Junior Christian Billetdeaux cleared 5’2” in the high jump. 

 

In the pole vault, junior Enrique Lipezker cleared 7’0”.



Track Event Highlights:

 

The 3200 meter run produced two personal best performances with senior Ted Zinox running 11:32.0 and junior Ramey Heimgartner finishing the race in 13:04.6.

 

Senior Peter Soutsos raced to a 16.5 in the 110 meter high hurdles while junior Finn Davis ran 19.4. 

 

Junior Paul Eam led the way in the 100 meter dash with a 12.0. Robinson ran 12.2 and Billetdeaux ran 12.4. Senior Josh Longo was the only other sub 13 for HP. This was his first time running the event under 13 seconds.

 

Longo came back and got his first sub 60 in the 400 meter dash running a :59.5.

 

The 1600 meter run was led by senior Alex Brown as he ran a season best 5:00.5. Junior Angel Zeferino also raced to a season best 5:02.0.

 

In the 200 meter dash, Robinson led the way with a :25.6. Once again Longo ran a personal best and broke 27 for the first time with a :26.5.

 

The 4X400 ran well and included several personal best splits. Zeferino led off with a 1:03.4. Brown just missed his personal best going 1:00.6. Colin Chase got his best time for his split which was a 1:03.8. Finally, Zinox ran a 1:03.6 for his best time. 

 

There were some nice performances for a low-key weekday meet. Each meet the team is looking to build towards their goals and make gains as the process continues to make them better.   

  

The nominations for Giant of the Meet included:

 

Josh Longo - Ran 3 big breakthrough personal bests in the 100, 400, and 200 meter dashes. Getting under significant time barriers in each event. 

 

Ted Zinox - Ran a PR in the 3200. Also ran the 1600 and a PR split in the 4X400.

 

Colin Chase - PRs in the SP and season best in the Discus. Also, PR in his 4X400 split.
