HP Finishes 2nd On Both Levels At CSL Indoor Championships

The Highland Park Boys Track & Field Teams had good showings on both the frosh-soph and varsity levels at the CSL Indoor Championship Meet hosted by GBN.    Below are listed some of the highlights by areas:

Sprints/Hurdles

In the 50 Meter Dash, junior Andrew Sledd won the event and broke the school record running a blazing time of 5.8.   He also led off the winning 4X160 Meter Relay team.  The relay included seniors John Bricker, Alex Heymann, and Josh Weinberg.  The team ran 1:16.1 which is the 7^th fastest all time for HPHS.

Weinberg also had a great day in the hurdles.   He finished second in both hurdle events running 8.3 in the 55 Meter High Hurdles and 7.9 in the 55 Meter Low Hurdles.

The event that scored the most points for Highland Park was the 400 Meter Dash.  Seniors Alex Kasemir and Nate Echt finished 1-2 in the event running times of  53.3 and 53.4.

Distance

The 4X800 Meter Relay did not have the start we were hoping for, but they came back strong to finish second in 8:31.3.   The team consisted of sophomore Angel Estrada, seniors Ari Feldman, Kasemir, and junior Jonah Hanig.  

Luke Nudelman ran his best race of the season by breaking 10 minutes for the first time in the 3200 Meter Run.   He finished in 4^th place in 9:57.8 behind three very strong runners.

The 1600 Meter Run gave HP a 3-4 finish with Hanig (4:40.4) and Estrada (4:42.6)

Field Events

Bricker continued his strong season in the High Jump winning again with a height of 6’0” 

Heymann had his best day in the Triple Jump with a 43’.5”   jump to finish in second place.   This jump puts him at 8^th on the all time Highland Park indoor list.

Senior Max Downey had his best meet in the Shot Put by getting a 44’3” throw for 4^th place.
