Wehner and Goldstein Represent HP at Distance Night in Palatine

Sunday, April 28 2024 - Palatine Distance Night

Distance Night in Palatine is an elite meet where the best distance runners in Illinois and even from out of state come to compete. Highland Park had two qualifiers this year. Barak Goldstein (Sr.) raced in the 800 meter run while Nate Wehner (Sr.) competed in the 2 mile run.

In the 800, Goldstein got out and navigated the first lap mid-pack at :57.2. In the second lap he battled tough and crossed the line in a season best time of 1:58.83 to take 13th place.

Wehner got in good position early in the 2 mile race and fought hard through the middle of the race. He was in good position during the final lap and had a strong move with 200 or so to go. He crossed the line in 9:25.48 for 12th place. His 3200 time was 9:22.14 which ties him for 10th all-time outdoors at HPHS. This is his best time for 3200 meters outdoors.

Goldstein and Wehner have set a high standard for the HP program. They will look to cap off 2 incredible high school careers in the next few weeks with even faster times along with individual and team success.
