HP Hurdlers Shine at Frosh-Soph Quad

Friday, March 14 2014 - Frosh-Soph Quad vs. NT, NW, and DF

At the 2014 Frosh-Soph Quad, Highland Park hosted New Trier, Niles West, and Deerfield.   This meet is always a nice look into the future of track & field for each of the teams at this meet.  It allows for the two grade levels to each compete against just their same grade.

Highland Park's strongest performances by far came in the hurdles.  While winning both hurdle races, Ryan Kriozere broke the sophomore 50 Meter High Hurdles and 50 Meter Low Hurdles indoor records. In the 50m LH he broke the record he set earlier in the season (7.0) with a 6.9. In the 50m HH he ran a 7.1 eclipsing the previous record of 7.2. Zev Motew crushed the freshman 50 Meter High Hurdles record of 8.3 (1994, Devin Sanders) with a 7.9 winning time for the freshmen race.   It will be thrill to watch the careers of these two outstanding young hurdles as they continue to make the commitment to working hard as track & field athletes.

Other first place finishers on the freshmen level included: Dondi Penick in the Triple Jump (37'6"), Jared Levine Pole Vault (8'0"), Ari Weisenthal in the 400 Meter Dash, and Ben Davis in the 200 Meter Dash (26.8).

Other first place finishers on the sophomore level included: Sheridan Clayborn in the Shot Put (38'11").
