HP Takes 2nd Place At IHSA 3A Libertyville Regional

Saturday, November 1 2014 - IHSA 3A Boys Cross Country Regionals - Libertyville

The Giants had a better race then they did at the CSL Championship Meet as they took 2nd place at the IHSA 3A Libertyville Cross Country Regional.   This qualifies the team to run in the IHSA 3A Schaumburg Sectional at Busse Woods.

The team was led by the 5th place finish of senior Ben Casey in 16:10.01.   This was a solid race for Casey, but he is hoping for an even better race at Sectionals.   Just a few seconds behind him was junior Brett Davidson who took 7th in 16:13.17.   He too is looking for a much better race at Sectionals as he hopes to put himself up in the top 20 with a chance to help the team qualify for the IHSA 3A State Meet or qualify as an individual.  Next in for HP was sophomore Jonathan Rosenfeld in 19th, who had trouble finishing for the second week in a row.   This determined runner will bounce back with a better race at Sectionals.  He was followed by senior Eddie Herz who had a really nice race as he moved up throughout after a slow start to take 23rd.  Senior Andrew Huddleston was able to out-kick his freshmen teammate Nate Amster as they took 36th and 37th.   Freshmen Fitz Laurie had an off race and took 50th.   This disappointment will certainly motivated Laurie even more then he already is to work harder then ever and have an outstanding high school career.

In the open race after the varsity races HP had several strong performances.   Senior Dylan Kahn was able to re-earn a top 7 spot with his race.   He was followed closely by junior Alejandro Gutierriez who ran very well and has shown great improvement with all of his hard work.
