Joel Lewitz and Robert Picker Compete at the Manteca Senior Games
Monday, May 17 2010Highland Park High School class of 1962 alums Joel Lewitz and Robert Picker competed at the Manteca California Senior Games.
The following recap was written by Robert Picker:
"It was a beautiful day, great weather, held on a brand new first-class banked track. I was not in the best shape, still recovering from a strained hamstring at the Bay Area Senior Games at Stanford a month ago, but I hobbled through the 800m with a bronze medal. But the day was Joel's. He won the gold in the 1500 meters (like he did at Stanford), and took the silver in the 800m. I've attached some photos. We had a great time carrying the flag for our 1961 HPHS state champs, which we had a chance to talk up to the interested fans at the meet who noticed our T-shirts. Here's wishing you all the best! Go Giants!"
