Smoliak Vaults 15'3

Friday, March 13 2015 - Rolling Meadows Windy City Pole Vault Summit

Senior Eddie Smoliak continues to raise the bar in the pole vault as he improved his own school record at the Windy City Pole Vault Summit hosted by Rolling Meadows High School.   In this pole vault only event, many of the top vaulters in the state are invited to compete against each other in an early season showdown.   Smoliak had already set the school record earlier this season at GBN as he cleared 14'8".   Now, as he is working up to a new pole, he found his rhythm and improved the record as he cleared 14'9", 15'0", and then got over 15'3".   He also had some solid attempts at 15'6".    Smoliak is the first HP vaulter to go over 15' indoors and is only the second HP vaulter ever to go beyond the 15' mark (David Berk 2011, 15'0" -outdoors).  As he continues to get used to using the new pole, watch for Smoliak to soar even higher the rest of the season!
