Frosh-Soph Take 2nd At Warren Invite

Highland Park had several strong performances on both the frosh-soph and varsity levels at the Warren Invite.

 

A new school record in the 110 Meter High Hurdles was set by junior Ryan Kriozere. He ran an impressive 14.4 to take first place at the meet. He also ran 40.6 in the 300 Meter Hurdles to take 2nd place.

 

The frosh-soph 800 Meter Run was a thrilling race for HP. Sophomore Ben Bloom got out to a strong start and took the lead on the first lap. Freshmen Damian Campos was a bit back, but was closing fast in the last 200 meters. Bloom was able to hold off Campos as they went 1-2 in 2:08.5 and 2:08.7.

 

Sophomore Nick Kirsch had a busy day competing in four events. He took 5th in the Triple Jump (36'2.5”) and 7th in the Long Jump (17'5.25”). On the track he took 5th in the 300 Meter Hurdles (47.4) and took first in the 110 Meter High Hurdles with a time of 17.9.

 

 

In the Pole Vault, HP took 1st on varsity as senior Eddie Smoliak cleared 13' for the victory as he continue to adjust to his new pole. On frosh-soph, sophomore Jared Levine cleared 9'6” for 2nd place.

 

The varsity Discus had seniors Doug Kirsch and Smoliak take 4th and 5th (127'5” and 125'). The frosh-soph throwers took 1st in the Discus (Joey Sereda, 114'7”) and 2nd in the Shot Put (Michael Steczek, 37'8”).

 

Other highlights included:

Varsity 3200 – junior Brett Davidson (3rd, 9:48.8)

Frosh-soph 3200 – freshmen Fitz Laurie (3rd, 10:33.8) and freshmen Nate Amster (4th, 10:40.2)

 

Varsity 4X800 Meter Relay – HP took 2nd with seniors Ben Casey (2:01.2) , Andrew Huddleston (2:02.0), Dylan Kahn (2:09.5), and Kevin Merkel (2:09.5).

 

Frosh-soph 1600 Meter Run – freshmen Alec Glazier took 3rd (5:11.1).

 

Frosh-soph 4X400 Meter Relay – HP took 2nd in 3:46.8 – Campos (55.8), Bloom (56.7), Steven Weathers (57.9), and Victor Camacho (56.5).
