Ari Rothschild Qualifies For The IHSA State Cross Country Meet

Sunday, October 31 2010 - IHSA 3A Boys Cross Country Sectional - Schaumburg - Ari Rothschild

At the Schaumburg Sectional, Ari Rothschild reached a goal that he has been focused on attaining since he was in middle school...to qualify for the IHSA State Cross Country Meet.   He did so by finishing in 9th place at Sectionals with a time of 15:24.25.   It was not Ari's best race, but it was enough to earn a trip to Peoria.   He said he felt terrible during the race, but knew he had to keep pushing hard to reach his goal.   Now he will have an opportunity to run another fast time and earn All-State Honors by trying to finish in the top 25 at the state meet.

The team was able to run themselves into a top 10 finish just 8 points out of 7th place.  Highland Park was the top CSL team in the meet (GBN 15th and Deerfield 17th) as well as the top team from the Lake Forest Regional (Stevenson 18th and Lake Forest 20th).  This was a nice accomplishment for a team that has been hit by several injuries and illnesses this season.   We wish we could have had the entire team healthy throughout the season, but it is a tough sport and that does not always happen.   The guys that did race at Sectionals represented Highland Park well and it was a solid finish to a season full of high expectations and lots of ups and downs.
