Lewitz And Picker Compete At California Senior Games
Friday, April 1 2011Joel Lewitz and Robert Picker (both members of the HP Class of 1962) are still out there running in Master's level and Senior Games competitions.
On March 27th, they competed in the California Senior Games State Championship at Stanford University, running in the 65-69 age group. Joel, running in an HPHS blue track jersey, took first place gold medals in both the 800 and 1500 meters. Robert took the bronze in the 400 meters.
Congratulations to both of these distinguished HP Track & Field alums.
Robert Picker wrote the following about the event:
"It was great fun, and it's always nice to get back out there on the track to soak in the excitement of big meets, just like we did in our 1961-1962 glory days at HPHS. And to walk away with medals in the California State Championship felt really good. I think both Joel and I will keep trying to run in these track meets as long as we can still run. Here's wishing the team the very best for the coming season. Go Giants!!"
