Men's Track Wins ISU Redbird Spring Classic

NORMAL, Ill. - Eastern Illinois men's track won the Illinois State Redbird Spring Invite on Saturday while the women's team placed third in team scoring.  EIU returns to action next weekend at the Drake Relays.

The EIU men scored 66.83 points with seven first place finishes.  Northern Iowa was second with 52 points while host ISU was third with 31.16 points.

The EIU women scored 42 points with three first place finishes.  ISU won the women's meet with 73 points.  UNI had 45 points.

Mick Viken won the men's pole vault clearing 17'2.75".

Tyler Carter led a 1,2 finish in the men's triple jump with Sodiq Alliu placing second.  Carter jumped 44'10.75" while Alliu jumped 42'11.50".

Dominique Hall won the men's 110m hurdles with a time of 14.34.  Jalisa Paramore gave EIU a sweep of the sprint hurdles winning the women's 100m hurdles with a time of 14.09.

EIU swept both the men's and women's 100m dash and 800m run.  Calvin Edwards won the 100m at 10.67.  Angelica Anyaogu won the women's 100m at 12.25. Erika Ramos won the women's 800m with a time of 2:11.16.  Bryce Basting won the men's 800m as EIU swept the top three spots.  Basting had a time of 1:51.63.  Ephraim Dorsey was second at 1:51.93 andSean Wiggan third at 1:53.19. 

Daniel Trevor won the men's 400m hurdles with a time of 53.00.  Victor Delatorre rounded out the EIU men's first place runners winning the 5K with a time of 15:28.25.
