HP Alums Compete In Conference Meets

Grinell College won their 13th Midwest Conference title in a row Saturday, and their 26th in program history, Saturday at the league meet at Rock Cut State Park in Loves Park, Ill.  The Pioneers had the top three finishers, sparked by individual champ Dan Krauss (HP Class of 2008), who ran the 8-kilometer course in 26 minutes, 42.13 seconds.  Mike Gallagher (HP Class of 2006) placed 11th in 28:02.97 to earn All-Conference.  Results

 

DePauw University totaled 58 points and finished second at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country Championships behind Colorado College and its 45 points.  Zack Weinberg (HP Class of 2006) earned all-SCAC honors for the third straight year with an eighth-place showing in 25:09.9.  Results

 

Mario Castrejon (HP Class of 2005) helped Eastern Illinois University to a second place finish in the Ohio Valley Conference.   He placed 26th in a time of 27:49.77 right with the EIU pack (just 15 seconds behind Eastern's 3rd runner).  Results

 

Ben Swerdlow (HP Class of 2009), of Cornell College, ran a 31:14 in the Iowa Conference Cross Country Championships.  His team placed 3rd in the meet.  Results

 

Also, a special mention to Matt Black (HP Class of 2009) of Eastern Illinois University for running a 10:22 for a two mile time trial as he gets ready for the track season at EIU.
